Shooting Outside North Little Rock High School Stadium Halts Football Game

A high school football game in North Little Rock, AR was abruptly canceled at halftime Friday night after a shooting occurred in the visiting section bleachers.

According to school officials, the shot originated from outside the stadium, but a parent from Benton High School who was seated in the visiting section was struck by the bullet. District officials announced in a Facebook post that the remainder of the game was canceled for safety reasons.

The North Little Rock Police Department confirmed that the parent suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the shooting, and the incident remains under investigation.
