Sideline Fight Erupts After Coach Shoves Quarterback During Championship Game

A tense moment early in the second quarter turned the Lamar versus Brookhaven Academy championship game into a national talking point. Lamar quarterback Sullivan Reed scrambled toward the Brookhaven sideline after failing to locate an open receiver. As he crossed into the area he moved between two Brookhaven coaches. One coach extended an arm and delivered a clear shove to Reeds shoulder which knocked him off balance and sent him crashing into a nearby bench.

Reed jumped up visibly frustrated and threw the football back toward the coach who had pushed him. The throw did not reach its target and instead hit a Brookhaven player in the back. That misfire triggered a full sideline confrontation that briefly spiraled out of control and appeared to show at least one Brookhaven coach swinging a punch.

Officials gathered to sort out the situation. Reed was ejected for the remainder of the contest according to a report from BroBible.com. The Brookhaven coach who initiated the contact received a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct but remained in the game.
